Spoilt for choice so much to see when you visit Helston Cornwall

What do you fancy doing whilst visting Cornwall?

St. Michaels Mount (CornishKarrek Loos yn Koos)

As one of the earliest referenced locations in the British Isles, St. Michaels mount boasts an extensive and illustrious history.

Situated around half a mile off the coast of Marazion (9 miles west of Helston), the tiny island is one of just 43 unbridged tidal islands in the UK and can be accessed by foot during low tide.

As a popular destination for religious pilgrims over the centuries, the island still draws thousands of visitors each year on account of its historic chapel, castle keep, harbour and Second World War era fortifications.

National Maritime Museum

You’re never far from the sea when in Cornwall. As could be expected, the county has a past steeped in maritime culture and custom.

The Nationa Maritime Museum, located in the port town of Falmouth (13 miles north east of Helston), is one of the country’s most renowned attractions of its kind.

Offering an insightful range of activities, lectures, workshops and exhibitions, there are few more suitable places to emerse yourself in the seafaring history of Kernow, and indeed of Great Britain.

The Eden Project (Cornish: Edenva)

Opening its doors to the public in the spring of 2001, the Eden Project is a world famous visitor attraction located just outside of St. Austell.

About an hours drive from the Strathallan, Eden is host to an ever-changing range of botanical species and flora from around the world.

A must for any lover of nature, the projects two domes (as pictured) are designed to emulate both Mediterranean and tropical environments.

The Lizard (Cornish: An Lysardh)

Another key location in the history of Cornwall, The Lizard lies across the water from Lands End, on the county’s eastern tip.

A prominent name among sailors of centuries past and present, The Lizard has claimed many ships on its rocks.

As a nationally accredited Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Lizard is certainly worth a visit- espcially considering it lies just 11 miles from Helston!
